The holy month of Ramadan is now upon us. This marks the time of year were Muslims fast from dawn till sunset everyday for a month.
Fasting? What’s that? Fasting is basically refraining from eating AND drinking. You heard me right. These long summer days are a real test.
Ramadan signifies a month of devout worship, patience, and good deeds.
Look at that, you learned something today!
What started out as a thunderous entrance to the blogging scene went on a hiatus as life got a little serious. There is definitely a lot for me to blog about in the near future:

So this weekend i set out to fix some of the things that have been bugging me on my car since I bought it last year.
- Door handle was blue (my car is black)
- Bumper was poorly painted and paint peeling.
- Cold air intake was actually making my car worse
The cold air intake was a tricky subject. Lately, I’ve been having trouble using my car after it rains. I didn’t make that connection until a friend suggested that it was raining every time my car wouldn’t work. Actually, it’s not that it wouldn’t work, but it would idle so roughly that it was impossible to drive.
I had come to the conclusion that my cold air intake was getting wet and the car was having trouble receiving air. For those of you born before the 1800’s, you need air for combustion. Due to the crappy GM design, the bumper doesn’t actually sit flush and the little spaces allow water to get in.
The bumper actually came off of a red car and whoever painted it did THE WORST POSSIBLE JOB. It wasn’t sanded and there was no primer.
Keep in mind this was the first time I did any of this, and that I had a lot of help from a great family friend (basically like my uncle) and a good friend of mine who’s mechanically inclined.

Overall I’m pretty happy with this weekend’s productivity. There’s a slight (and expected) problem with the Check Engine Light (CEL) appearing but hopefully it will go away on it’s own or I can just clear it. This is because there’s a lot more air entering the engine and the ECU isn’t used to it.
Being in the lab setting is not something too new for me anymore. That doesn’t stop me from elating about how cool some of these scientific instruments that I get to work with are. Lasers, illuminometers, centrifuges… And this: The mother of (almost) all freezers. This “cool” machine holds temperatures at -135•C (pun intended). For you freaks still on the imperial system that’s -211•F.
